I don’t want to write this. In fact, I don’t want to do anything right now. I just don’t feel like it. I can’t focus, I don’t know what to say, and I’d rather have a cup of coffee and not think about anything.
I’m not tired or depressed. I feel fine. I just don’t want to do what I know I “should” be doing.
When you feel like this, what do you do?
We have two choices:
- Do it anyway. You have responsibilities, commitments, people who rely on you. You can’t afford to give in every time you don’t feel like working. Suck it up, be an adult and get your work done. Don’t think about it, just dive in. Just get started. Give it five minutes and you’ll see it’s not that bad. Before you know it, you’ll be done. Or go for a walk around the block and clear you head, then get back to work. Successful people work even when they don’t feel like it; it’s why they are successful. Resist the urge, the feeling will pass. Get your work done and then you can take time off.
- Don’t ignore the feeling. Your inner self is trying to tell you something and you should listen. Trust your instincts. You can’t always be logical, sometimes you have to give into your feelings. You work hard, you’re entitled to some time off. It’s healthy and normal to feel this way so don’t sweat it. A little time off and you’ll be better off for it. Take some time to goof off; you’ll do better work when you return, much better work than if you force yourself to work through this feeling. What’s the point of working hard if you can’t take some time to enjoy life?
Which is the correct? I don’t know. All I know is that I got this post written and I feel much better.
